Tutoring Bar Mitzvah Students and Their Pets

Tutoring Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah Students and Their Pets

One of the unexpected joys of online Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah tutoring is getting to meet my students’ pets!

Back when students came to my office for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah preparation, they would often tell me stories about their dogs, cats and other pets. However, I rarely had the opportunity to meet them. Now that I tutor my students on Zoom, their furry friends frequently make surprise appearances during our lessons.

Sometimes a dog settles beside a student while we practice Hebrew prayers. Other times, a curious cat walks across the keyboard while we work on a Torah portion or D’var Torah. When the timing is right, I even manage to capture a screenshot of my students with their four-legged study partners.

The Benefits of Online Bar and Bat Mitzvah Tutoring

Zoom tutoring allows students to prepare for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah from the comfort of home. Being in a familiar environment helps many students feel more relaxed, confident and ready to learn. It also makes personalized Bar and Bat Mitzvah preparation available to families regardless of where they live or whether they belong to a synagogue.

Each student receives individualized instruction based on their experience, learning style and the expectations for their ceremony. Together, we can work on Hebrew reading, prayers, the Torah portion, service leadership and a meaningful D’var Torah. My goal is always to make the preparation process positive, encouraging and free from unnecessary stress.

Of course, supportive parents, siblings and pets are always welcome to stop by our Zoom sessions!
