Mitzvah Project

BAR MITZVAH PROJECTS

The “Mitzvah Project” is an initiative that was created in the 1990s to offer Jewish Teens the opportunity to give back to the community through hands-on tzedakah (charitable) initiatives. You and your child may choose to develop a hands-on social action project, and/or help raise needed funds for a cause of their choice.

While Rabbi Jason Miller doesn’t require bar and bat mitzvah students to do mitzvah projects as part of their bar/bat mitzvah preparations, it is strongly encouraged. Additionally, Rabbi Jason can help with the mitzvah project by recommending social action initiatives and volunteer organizations based on the student’s interests and abilities.

A Mitzvah Project is a meaningful way to engage your child, and potentially, your whole family in some of the most important values of Judaism – repairing the world (tikkun olam) and compassion for others (v’ahavta l’rayecha kamocha).

Rabbi Jason will help the bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah students create their own unique mitzvah project that connects their interests and hobbies.
